When running `cargo test -p bridge-hub-rococo-runtime --features runtime-benchmarks`, two of the Snowbridge benchmark tests fails. The reason is that when the runtime-benchmarks feature is enabled, the `NoopMessageProcessor` message processor is used. The Snowbridge tests rely on the outbound messages to be processed using the message queue, so that we can check the expected nonce and block digest logs. This PR changes the conditional compilation to only use `NoopMessageProcessor` when compiling the executable to run benchmarks against, not when running tests. --------- Co-authored-by: claravanstaden <Cats 4 life!>

## Problem During the bumping of the `polkadot-fellows` repository to `[email protected]`, I encountered a situation where the benchmarks `teleport_assets` and `reserve_transfer_assets` in AssetHubKusama started to fail. This issue arose due to a decreased ED balance for AssetHubs introduced [here](https://github.com/polkadot-fellows/runtimes/pull/158/files#diff-80668ff8e793b64f36a9a3ec512df5cbca4ad448c157a5d81abda1b15f35f1daR213), and also because of a [missing CI pipeline](https://github.com/polkadot-fellows/runtimes/issues/197) to check the benchmarks, which went unnoticed. These benchmarks expect the `caller` to have enough: 1. balance to transfer (BTT) 2. balance for paying delivery (BFPD). So the initial balance was calculated as `ED * 100`, which seems reasonable: ``` const ED_MULTIPLIER: u32 = 100; let balance = existential_deposit.saturating_mul(ED_MULTIPLIER.into());` ``` The problem arises when the price for delivery is 100 times higher than the existential deposit. In other words, when `ED * 100` does not cover `BTT` + `BFPD`. I check AHR/AHW/AHK/AHP and this problem has only AssetHubKusama ``` ED: 3333333 calculated price to parent delivery: 1031666634 (from xcm logs from the benchmark) --- 3333333 * 100 - BTT(3333333) - BFPD(1031666634) = −701666667 ``` which results in the error; ``` 2024-02-23 09:19:42 Unable to charge fee with error Module(ModuleError { index: 31, error: [17, 0, 0, 0], message: Some("FeesNotMet") }) Error: Input("Benchmark pallet_xcm::reserve_transfer_assets failed: FeesNotMet") ``` ## Solution The benchmarks `teleport_assets` and `reserve_transfer_assets` were fixed by removing `ED * 100` and replacing it with `DeliveryHelper` logic, which calculates the (almost real) price for delivery and sets it along with the existential deposit as the initial balance for the account used in the benchmark. ## TODO - [ ] patch for 1.6 - https://github.com/paritytech/polkadot-sdk/pull/3466 - [ ] patch for 1.7 - https://github.com/paritytech/polkadot-sdk/pull/3465 - [ ] patch for 1.8 - TODO: PR --------- Co-authored-by: Francisco Aguirre <[email protected]>

# Runtime side for PoV Reclaim ## Implementation Overview - Hostfunction to fetch the storage proof size has been added to the PVF. It uses the size tracking recorder that was introduced in my previous PR. - Mechanisms to use the reclaim HostFunction have been introduced. - 1. A SignedExtension that checks the node-reported proof size before and after application of an extrinsic. Then it reclaims the difference. - 2. A manual helper to make reclaiming easier when manual interaction is required, for example in `on_idle` or other hooks. - In order to utilize the manual reclaiming, I modified `WeightMeter` to support the reduction of consumed weight, at least for storage proof size. ## How to use To enable the general functionality for a parachain: 1. Add the SignedExtension to your parachain runtime. 2. Provide the HostFunction to the node 3. Enable proof recording during block import ## TODO - [x] PRDoc --------- Co-authored-by: Dmitry Markin <[email protected]> Co-authored-by: Davide Galassi <[email protected]> Co-authored-by: Bastian Köcher <[email protected]>

This introduces a check to ensure that the parachain code matches the validation code stored in the relay chain state. If not, it will print a warning. This should be mainly useful for parachain builders to make sure they have setup everything correctly.

- Adds a test to check the correct digest for Snowbridge outbound messages. For the correct digest to be in the block, the the MessageQueue pallet should be configured after the EthereumOutbound queue pallet. The added test fails if the EthereumOutbound is configured after the MessageQueue pallet. - Adds a helper method `run_to_block_with_finalize` to simulate the block finalizing. The existing `run_to_block` method does not finalize and so it cannot successfully test this condition. The rationale behind this, is that it may be useful for some users actually disable RPC batch requests or limit them by length instead of the total size bytes of the batch. This PR adds two new CLI options: ``` --rpc-disable-batch-requests - disable batch requests on the server --rpc-max-batch-request-len <LEN> - limit batches to LEN on the server. ```

Fixes #3014 This PR adds retry mechanics to `pallet-scheduler`, as described in the issue above. Users can now set a retry configuration for a task so that, in case its scheduled run fails, it will be retried after a number of blocks, for a specified number of times or until it succeeds. If a retried task runs successfully before running out of retries, its remaining retry counter will be reset to the initial value. If a retried task runs out of retries, it will be removed from the schedule. Tasks which need to be scheduled for a retry are still subject to weight metering and agenda space, same as a regular task. Periodic tasks will have their periodic schedule put on hold while the task is retrying. --------- Signed-off-by: georgepisaltu <[email protected]> Co-authored-by: command-bot <>

Given how the block production is driven for Parachains right now, with the enabling of async backing we would produce two blocks per slot. Until we have a proper collator implementation, the "hack" is to prevent the production of multiple blocks per slot. Closes: https://github.com/paritytech/polkadot-sdk/issues/3282

It's a follow-up of #2949. It enables the lookahead collator to dynamically adjust the aura slot size, which may change during the runtime upgrade. It also addressed a couple of issues with time constants I missed in the original PR. Good news: it works. The parachain successfully switches from sync backing with 12s slots to async backing with 6s slots. Bad news: during the transitional period of a single block in which the actual runtime upgrade is performed, it still gets the old slot duration of 12s (as it gets it from the best block), resulting in a runtime panic (logs follow). That doesn't affect the following block production of the parachain. Ideas on how to improve the situation are appreciated. <details> ``` 2024-02-05 12:59:36.373 INFO tokio-runtime-worker sc_basic_authorship::basic_authorship: [Parachain]

Leases can be force set, but since Leases is a StorageValue, if a lease misses its sale rotation in which it should expire, it can never be cleared. This can happen if a lease is added with an until timeslice that lies in a region whose sale has already started or has passed, even if the timeslice itself hasn't passed. Trappist is currently trapped in a lease that will never end, so this will remove it at the next sale rotation. A fix was introduced in https://github.com/paritytech/polkadot-sdk/pull/3213 but this missed the 1.7 release. This PR bumps the `coretime-rococo` version to get these changes on Rococo.

Changes (partial https://github.com/paritytech/polkadot-sdk/issues/994): - Set log to `0.4.20` everywhere - Lift `log` to the workspace Starting with a simpler one after seeing https://github.com/paritytech/polkadot-sdk/pull/2065 from @jsdw . This sets the `default-features` to `false` in the root and then overwrites that in each create to its original value. This is necessary since otherwise the `default` features are additive and its impossible to disable them in the crate again once they are enabled in the workspace. I am using a tool to do this, so its mostly a test to see that it works as expected. --------- Signed-off-by: Oliver Tale-Yazdi <[email protected]>

Related to https://github.com/paritytech/polkadot-sdk/issues/3242 Reorganizing the bridge zombienet tests in order to: - separate the environment spawning from the actual tests - offer better control over the tests and some possibility to orchestrate them as opposed to running everything from the zndsl file Only rewrote the asset transfer test using this new "framework". The old logic and old tests weren't functionally modified or deleted. The plan is to get feedback on this approach first and if this is agreed upon, migrate the other 2 tests later in separate PRs and also do other improvements later.

Superseeds https://github.com/paritytech/polkadot-sdk/pull/1245 This PR is a migration of the https://github.com/paritytech/substrate/pull/14577. The PR added associated types (`AddOrigin` & `RemoveOrigin`) to `Config`. It allows you to decouple types and areas of responsibility, since at the moment the same types are responsible for adding and promoting(removing and demoting). This will improve the flexibility of the pallet configuration. ``` /// The origin required to add a member. type AddOrigin: EnsureOrigin<Self::RuntimeOrigin, Success = ()>; /// The origin required to remove a member. The success value indicates the /// maximum rank *from which* the removal may be. type RemoveOrigin: EnsureOrigin<Self::RuntimeOrigin, Success = Rank>; ``` To achieve the backward compatibility, the users of the pallet can use the old type via the new morph: ``` type AddOrigin = MapSuccess<Self::PromoteOrigin, Ignore>; type RemoveOrigin = Self::DemoteOrigin; ``` --------- Signed-off-by: Oliver Tale-Yazdi <[email protected]> Co-authored-by: PraetorP <[email protected]> Co-authored-by: Pavel Orlov <[email protected]>

Fixup for https://github.com/paritytech/polkadot-sdk/pull/2587 to make the `core-fellowship` crate work with swapped members. Adds a `MemberSwappedHandler` to the `ranked-collective` pallet that are implemented by `core-fellowship+salary`. There is are exhaustive tests [here](https://github.com/paritytech/polkadot-sdk/blob/72aa7ac1/substrate/frame/core-fellowship/src/tests/integration.rs#L338) and [here](https://github.com/paritytech/polkadot-sdk/blob/ab3cdb05 /substrate/frame/salary/src/tests/integration.rs#L224) to check that adding member `1` is equivalent to adding member `0` and then swapping. --------- Signed-off-by: Oliver Tale-Yazdi <[email protected]>

This PR addresses two issues: - It modifies `DepositAsset`'s asset filter from `All` to `AllCounted(1)` to prevent potentially charging excessive weight/fees. This adjustment avoids situations where fees could be calculated based on the count of assets, as illustrated [here](https://github.com/paritytech/polkadot-sdk/blob/master/cumulus/parachains/runtimes/bridge-hubs/bridge-hub-rococo/src/weights/xcm/mod.rs#L38-L46). - It encapsulates `DepositAsset` with `SetAppendix` to ensure that `fees` are not trapped in any case. For instance, this prevents issues when `ExportXcm::validate` encounters an error during the processing of `ExportMessage`.
