      crypto: `lazy_static` removed, light parser for address URI added (#2250) · 5007e2dd
      Michal Kucharczyk authored

      The `lazy_static` package does not work well in `no-std`: it requires
      `spin_no_std` feature, which also will propagate into `std` if enabled.
      This is not what we want.

      This PR provides simple address uri parser which allows to get rid of
      _regex_ which was used to parse the address uri, what in turns allows to
      remove lazy_static.

      Three regular expressions
      (`SS58_REGEX`,`SECRET_PHRASE_REGEX`,`JUNCTION_REGEX`) were replaced with
      the parser which unifies all of them.

      The new parser does not support Unicode, it is ASCII only.

      Adds syntax for marking calls feeless (#1926) · 60c77a2e
      gupnik authored

      Fixes https://github.com/paritytech/polkadot-sdk/issues/1725

      This PR adds the following changes:
      1. An attribute `pallet::feeless_if` that can be optionally attached to
      a call like so:
      ```rust
      #[pallet::feeless_if(|_origin: &OriginFor<T>, something: &u32| -> bool {
      	*something == 0
      })]
      pub fn do_something(origin: OriginFor<T>, something: u32) -> DispatchResult {
           ....
      }
      ```
      The closure passed accepts references to arguments as specified in the
      call fn. It returns a boolean that denotes the conditions required for
      this call to be "feeless".

      2. A signed extension `SkipCheckIfFeeless<T: SignedExtension>` that
      wraps a transaction payment processor such as
      `pallet_transaction_payment::ChargeTransactionPayment`. It checks for
      all calls annotated with `pallet::feeless_if` to see if the conditions
      are met. If so, the wrapped signed extension is not called, essentially
      making the call feeless.

      In order to use this, you can simply replace your existing signed
      extension that manages transaction payment like so:
      ```diff
      - pallet_transaction_payment::ChargeTransactionPayment<Runtime>,
      + pallet_skip_feeless_payment::SkipCheckIfFeeless<
      +	Runtime,
      +	pallet_transaction_payment::ChargeTransactionPayment<Runtime>,
      + >,
      ```

      [xcm-emulator] Chains generic over Network & Integration tests restructure (#2092) · ffa0e30e
      Ignacio Palacios authored
      Closes:
      - #1383
      - Declared chains can be now be imported and reused in a different
      crate.
      - Chain declaration are now generic over a generic type `N` (the
      Network)
      - #1389
      - Solved #1383, chains and networks declarations can be restructure to
      avoid having to compile all chains when running integrations tests where
      are not needed.
      - Chains are now declared on its own crate (removed from
      `integration-tests-common`)
      - Networks are now declared on its own crate (removed from
      `integration-tests-common`)
          - Integration tests will import only the relevant Network crate
      - `integration-tests-common` is renamed to
      `emulated-integration-tests-common`

      All this is necessary to be able to implement what is described here:

      [testnet] Add `AssetHubRococo` <-> `AssetHubWestend` asset bridging support (#1967) · 1b1fab0d
      Branislav Kontur authored

      ## Summary

      Asset bridging support for AssetHub**Rococo** <-> AssetHub**Wococo** was
      added [here](https://github.com/paritytech/polkadot-sdk/pull/1215), so
      now we aim to bridge AssetHub**Rococo** and AssetHub**Westend**. (And
      perhaps retire AssetHubWococo and the Wococo chains).

      ## Solution

      **bridge-hub-westend-runtime**
      - added new runtime as a copy of `bridge-hub-rococo-runtime`
      - added support for bridging to `BridgeHubRococo`
      - added tests and benchmarks

      **bridge-hub-rococo-runtime**
      - added support for bridging to `BridgeHubWestend`
      - added tests and benchmarks
      - internal refactoring by splitting bridge configuration per network,
      e.g., `bridge_to_whatevernetwork_config.rs`.

      **asset-hub-rococo-runtime**
      - added support for asset bridging to `AssetHubWestend` (allows to
      receive only WNDs)
      - added new xcm router for `Westend`
      - added tests and benchmarks

      **asset-hub-westend-runtime**
      - added support for asset bridging to `AssetHubRococo` (allows to
      receive only ROCs)
      - added new xcm router for `Rococo`
      - added tests and benchmarks

      ## Deployment

      All changes will be deployed as a part of
      https://github.com/paritytech/polkadot-sdk/issues/1988.

      feat: FRAME umbrella crate. (#1337) · 43415ef5
      juangirini authored

      ### Original PR https://github.com/paritytech/substrate/pull/14137

      This PR brings in the first version of the "_`frame` umbrella crate_".
      This crate is intended to serve two purposes:

      1. documentation
      2. easier development with frame. Ideally, we want most users to be able
      to build a frame-based pallet and runtime using just `frame` (plus
      `scale-codec` and `scale-info`).

      The crate is not finalized and is not yet intended for external use.
      Therefore, the version is set to `0.0.1-dev`, this PR is `silent`, and
      the entire crate is hidden behind the `experimental` flag. The main
      intention in merging it early on is to be able to iterate on it in the
      rest of
      [`developer-hub`](https://github.com/paritytech/polkadot-sdk-docs/)
      efforts.

      The public API of the `frame` crate is at the moment as follows:

      Mixnet integration (#1346) · a808a3a0
      David Emett authored

      See #1345, <https://github.com/paritytech/substrate/pull/14207>.

      This adds all the necessary mixnet components, and puts them together in
      the "kitchen-sink" node/runtime. The components added are:

      - A pallet (`frame/mixnet`). This is responsible for determining the
      current mixnet session and phase, and the mixnodes to use in each
      session. It provides a function that validators can call to register a
      mixnode for the next session. The logic of this pallet is very similar
      to that of the `im-online` pallet.
      - A service (`client/mixnet`). This implements the core mixnet logic,
      building on the `mixnet` crate. The service communicates with other
      nodes using notifications sent over the "mixnet" protocol.
      - An RPC interface. This currently only supports sending transactions
      over the mixnet.

      Remove kusama and polkadot runtime crates (#1731) · bf90cb0b
      Bastian Köcher authored
      This pull request is removing the Kusama and Polkadot runtime crates. As
      still some crates dependent on the runtime crates, this pull request is
      doing some more changes.

      - It removes the `hostperfcheck` CLI command. This CLI command could
      compare the current node against the standard hardware by doing some
      checks. Later we added the hardware benchmark feature to Substrate. This
      hardware benchmark is running on every node startup and prints a warning
      if the current node is too slow. This makes this CLI command a duplicate
      that was also depending on the kusama runtime.

      - The pull request is removing the emulated integration tests that were
      requiring the Kusama or Polkadot runtime crates.

      Retire puppet workers (#1449) · 2c8021f9
      s0me0ne-unkn0wn authored
      Closes #583

      After the separation of PVF worker binaries, dedicated puppet workers
      are not needed for tests anymore. The production workers can be used
      instead, avoiding some code duplication and decreasing complexity.

      The changes also make it possible to further refactor the code to
      isolate workers completely.
