Migrated commands to github actions (#4701) · 6daa939b
      Javyer authored

Migrated commands individually to work as GitHub actions with a
      [`workflow_dispatch`](https://docs.github.com/en/actions/using-workflows/events-that-trigger-workflows#workflow_dispatch)
      event.

This will not disable the command-bot yet, but it's the first step
      before disabling it.

      ### Commands migrated
      - [x] bench-all
      - [x] bench-overhead
      - [x] bench
      - [x] fmt
      - [x] update-ui

Also created an action that will inform users about the new
      documentation when they comment `bot`.

      ### Created documentation
Created a detailed documentation on how to use this action. Found the
      documentation

      Polkadot-SDK Umbrella Crate (#3935) · 1c7a1a58
      Oliver Tale-Yazdi authored
      # Umbrella Crate

The Polkadot-SDK "umbrella" is a crate that re-exports all other
      published crates. This makes it
possible to have a very small `Cargo.toml` file that only has one
      dependency, the umbrella
crate. This helps with selecting the right combination of crate
      versions, since otherwise 3rd
party tools are needed to select a compatible set of versions.

      ## Features

The umbrella crate supports no-std builds and can therefore be used in
      the runtime and node.
There are two main features: `runtime` and `node`. The `runtime` feature
      enables all `no-std`
crates, while the `node` feature enables all `std` crates. It should be
      used like any other
crate in the repo, with `default-features = false`.

For more fine-grained control, additionally, each crate can be enabled
      selectively. The umbrella
exposes one feature per dependency. For example, if you only want to use
      the `frame-support`
crate, you can enable the `frame-support` feature.

The umbrella exposes a few more g...

Improve Create release draft workflow + templates for the free notes and docker images sections in the notes (#4371)

This PR has the following changes:

      - New templates for the free notes and docker images sections in the
release notes. There is going to be a section for the manual additions
to the release notes + a section with the links to the docker images for
`polkadot` and `polkadot-parachain` binaries at the end of the release
      draft.
      - Fix for matrix section in the Create release draft flow (adds the
      release environment variable)
      - Reduction of the message which is posted to the announcement chats, as
the current one with the full release notes text is too big.

Improve changelog in the release notes (#4179) · ff906127
      Egor_P authored
This PR adds description to each of the sections of the Changelog part.
Changes are based on feedback that it wasn't that clear what exactly
`Node Dev`, `Runtime Dev` etc. means. Now, the description for each of
those parts is taken directly from the `prdoc` schema.

Github workflow to automate release draft creation (#3978) · 216509db
      Egor_P authored

This PR introduces the github flow which will create a release draft
automatically when the rc tag is pushed. The flow contains the following
      steps:

      - Gets the info about rust version used to build the node
      - Builds the runtimes using `srtool`
      - Extracts the info about each runtime
      - Aggregates the changelog from the prdocs
      - Creates the release draft containing all the info related to the
      release (changelog, runtimes, rust versions)
      - Attaches the runtimes to the draft
      - Posts the message to the RelEng internal channel to inform that the
      build is done.

      Changelogs local generation (#1411) · 42a3afba
      Chevdor authored

This PR introduces a script and some templates to use the prdoc involved
      in a release and build:
      - the changelog
      - a simple draft of audience documentation

Since the prdoc presence was enforced in the middle of the version
1.5.0, not all PRs did come with a `prdoc` file.
This PR creates all the missing `prdoc` files with some minimum content
allowing to properly generate the changelog.
The generated content is **not** suitable for the audience
      documentation.

The audience documentation will be possible with the next version, when
all PR come with a proper `prdoc`.

      ## Assumptions

      - the prdoc files for release `vX.Y.Z` have been moved under
      `prdoc/X.Y.Z`
      - the changelog requires for now for the prdoc files to contain author +
      topic. Thos fields are optional.

The build script can be called as:
      ```
      VERSION=X.Y.Z ./scripts/release/build-changelogs.sh
      ```
